How to Gift Long-Distance | 5 Ways
This time of year, there are so many occasions that arise for celebrating and often gifting: weddings, Easter, birthdays, Mother’s and Father’s Day, graduations, baby and bridal showers, and more!
Phew! It can be 1 – overwhelming, and 2 – especially difficult if you live far away from the recipient(s).
Here are some ideas to for gifting and really connecting with the recipient, even when they are hundreds of miles away.
Online shopping: You can purchase gifts from online stores and have them shipped directly to your recipient's address. Many retailers offer gift wrapping and personalized messages, making it a convenient option.
E-gift cards: Send e-gift cards to your recipient's email address or phone number, which they can redeem online or in-store. Many retailers have these. We offer them too, here.
Care packages: Create a care package filled with items that your recipient will enjoy, such as their favorite snacks, books, or self-care items. You can purchase the items, then pack and ship the care package to your recipient.
Handwritten letters or cards: You can send a handwritten letter or card to your recipient, expressing your love and appreciation. Of course, you can purchase cards locally or create your own using online tools. Our Xenia Box “Scratch-off Cards” are especially fun and build anticipation for the message they’ll read and perhaps a gift they’ll be receiving.
Video message: This is a very personal and creative option! Record a video message and send it to your recipient's email or phone. Just use your smart phone to record that personal video message. What would you say? Talk to them as if they are in front of you at that moment. Tell them something heartfelt. Make them laugh with a joke. Consider using props or a funny hat!
Whichever method you choose, make sure to add a personal touch and let your recipient know that you're thinking of them.
As our Xenia Box motto goes, “They may not remember what you gave or said, but they’ll remember how you made them feel.”
Going that extra bit to personalize any gift with a special message (yes, more than To/From) can be the real gift to them. It’s what they will always remember long after.
